Executive Director

Carl Hansen has been Executive Director of the Food Bank Coalition since December of 2005.  After thirty years of service as a priest in the Episcopal Church, Carl retired with his wife, Susan, to Paso Robles to be closer to grandchildren.  While rector of St. James in Paso Robles during the 1980’s, he was one of the founding pastors of Loaves and Fishes, an ecumenical food distribution agency.  He continued his work in community development helping homeless and low-income people during the 18 years he served as rector of All Saints Church in Carmel.  He feels that providing nutritious food for those struggling to provide for themselves is central to a caring community.

I have been interested in food and cooking since I was a kid.  With over 20 years in the food and wine industry; residing on the Central Coast affords me a professional career as a Chef, but also a balanced lifestyle with my family.  I currently am helping to make a difference with the foods we feed our children in school systems and healthy, fresh options for our seniors.  I whole heartedly support local farmers and locally produced foods.
